The Duxford Summer Air Show kicked off with several displays this afternoon (Sunday, June 25). Guests at the International War Museum saw iconic aircraft take to the skies – and those of us not attending also had a chance to spot some amazing planes.
The Red Arrows display will happen today at 5pm, after the display team have flown from Marham, where they have been stationed overnight. Their flightpath will take them over Whittlesey and Longstanton on their way to and from the event.
Joining them in the skies above Cambridgeshire over the weekend were the RAF Grob Tutor Display team (The Tutor T1 is used by Royal Air Force Elementary Flying Schools and University Air Squadrons across the UK). Guests also got to see the Wingwalking Team, Jet Pitts, Team Raven and many more.

The rest of the museum was packed with activities to enjoy. There were a variety of talks, workshops, hands-on activities, STEM workshops, static collections, museum entry and so much more.

UV levels are very high and pollen levels are high.
Advice from the Summer Air Show organisers is to stay hydrated in the heat.
Temperatures will be 29C at 5pm for the Red Arrows display.

The Red Arrows have posted a picture on Twitter ahead of their performance later today.
A spokesperson said: “We also have members of our support team – the Blues – on the ground at the event.
“Stop by the Red Arrows tent and say hello!”

Duxford is being used as a location for the upcoming Netflix film Six Triple Eight , the story of the only all-Black, all-female battalion of World War II.
The film is written and directed by Tyler Perry and the cast includes Kerry Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Susan Sarandon, and more.

Today is the second day of the Duxford Summer Air Show at the Imperial War Museum.
Here’s some advice from IWM Duxford:
12:40Key Event
The Red Arrows will be flying over Cambridgeshire to reach Duxford, where their display will take place at 5pm.
The Red Arrows will leave Marham, where they have been stationed overnight, at 4.49pm.
They will travel in the vicinity of Kings Lynn before passing north-east of Whittlesey at 4.54pm.
They will then fly north-west of Boworth at 4.58pm before their 5pm performance.
The return flight to Marham will take them over Arkesden at 5.25pm and Therfield at 5.28pm.
They will also fly north of Longstanton at 5.30pm before arriving in Marham at 5.35pm.
The timings and route may change due to weather or other requirements.

There is some congestion on the roads around Duxford due to today’s event.
According to traffic monitoring company Inrix, there is congestion on the A505 in both directions around Duxford airfield.
Congestion extends to to the Moorfield Road crossroads, a mile back past the M11.
