5 of the best picnic spots in Oxfordshire to check out

Whether you are looking for a day out with the kids or a peaceful spot with a view, Oxfordshire is full of great places for a picnic.

With the weather getting warmer, we have put together a list of the Top 5 picnic spots in the county for you to check out this summer.

Cutteslowe Park, Oxford

Cutteslowe Park is the largest park in Oxford and it is located in the far north of the city.

There are plenty of things to do in the park, so it makes for a great day out with the kids.  

This includes mini golf, a splash zone and a selection of picnic tables.

You could easily spend a full day there.

White Horse Hill, Uffington

The White Horse in Uffington is a must see in Oxfordshire.

And this isn’t the only attraction in the area.

You can also visit Uffington Castle which is an Iron Age hill fort.

It is situated on the Ridgeway so there are plenty of walks to do in area too.

Abbey Meadows in Abingdon is a great option for family picnics.

The area recently has a newly refurbished playground and there are also interactive water features for hot summer days.

Abbey Meadows is situated on the River Thames so it also makes for a good walk too.

Hartslock Nature Reserve, Goring

Hartslock Nature Reserve offers a fantastic picnic spot with one of the best views in the county.

From the reserve you can see right across into neighbouring Streatley and down the Goring Gap where the River Thames flows.

But be prepared- it is quite a steep climb to get up there.

However, it is certainly worth the effort!

Blenheim Palace parkland

Blenheim Palace is the only non-royal palace in the UK.

It is one of the most visited attractions in Oxfordshire.

Whilst you need to pay to access the palace, it is possible to enter the parkland around Blenheim for free.

A number of public footpaths run through the area and it makes a fantastic spot for a picnic.
