Airshows To Look Forward To In The Rest Of 2023

With the Paris Air Show roaring back for its 54th edition after taking a pause due to the pandemic, we’ve seen more than 150 aircraft take to the skies, historic aircraft orders, and the latest developments in the industry’s commitment to sustainability. With announcements from Airbus, Boeing, and several other manufacturers and airlines, the show undoubtedly caught the attention of many worldwide.



Although the show comes to an end on Sunday, there are three other notable shows to pencil into your calendar this year; all of which – will feature incredible flight displays, immersive experiences, and innovations. From Seattle to Dubai, much more is in store for aviation in 2023.

Oshkosh fun

Less than a month after the final day of the Paris Air Show, all eyes will be on Wisconsin for EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2023. From July 24th to July 30th, the skies above Wittman Regional Airport will be filled with aircraft for a series of aerobatic airshows happening daily and select nights throughout the week. Presented by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), a community comprised of more than 240,000 members around the world, the show is referred to as the largest annual gathering of aircraft and aviation enthusiasts.

Daily airshows will occur Monday, July 24th through Saturday, July 29th, from 14:30-18:30 and Sunday, July 30th, from 13:00-16:30. The spectacular nighttime airshows and fireworks will be presented on Wednesday and Saturday at 20:00. From antique warbirds, military aircraft, and seaplanes, thousands of aircraft are set to be on display. Additionally, a wide array of diverse and innovative exhibitors will be at the show, and a fly-in theater where attendees can watch movies nightly on screen five stories high.

Seafair: Visually stunning and thrilling

Taking place the following month, aviation enthusiasts can flock to the Pacific Northwest for the Boeing Seafair Airshow in Seattle. The show is part of the larger Seafair multi-week festival dating back to 1951. From August 4th to August 6th, thrill-seekers can enjoy “the most heart-stopping, gravity-defying, and adrenaline-pumping aerial performances ever seen,” with several aviation teams ready to dazzle the sky in front of the backdrop of Lake Washington.

With 35 performances scheduled, here are some that onlookers can expect:

  • The US Navy Blue Angels displaying the teamwork and professionalism of the US and Marine Corps through stunning flight demonstrations.
  • Fat Albert, a US Marine Corps Lockheed C-130J Super Hercules, kicking off the Blue Angels’ performance with a flyby.
  • The US Army Golden Knights, otherwise known as the US Army Parachute Team, with remarkable skydiving exhibitions.
  • The EA-18G Growler, which is a modified F/A-18F Super Hornet aircraft. According to Seafair, the jet is the most advanced airborne electronic attack in production today.
  • The US Coast Guard’s MH-65 helicopter used to perform search and rescue missions.

A Boeing 737 MAX 9 operated by Seattle-based Alaska Airlines is also expected to appear at the show. It is unclear whether the aircraft will feature a new special livery or its standard clean white, blue, and green livery.

Dubai’s event is perfect for the industry’s professionals

To finish the year, Dubai will host its biennial airshow from November 13th through November 17th. This year’s edition will feature more than 300 speakers and over 20 country pavilions. The show also allows attendees to connect with industry leaders and experts through networking opportunities.

From commercial aircraft to private and military, over 160 planes will be on display. Additionally, more than 80 hours of content covering various topics, including cargo operations, sustainability, and air traffic management, will be presented. The Vista startup hub, a platform for aerospace entrepreneurs around the globe, will be a new addition to the event this year.

With three airshows still on tap this year, there is something for every aviation enthusiast. Plus, there will be more to look forward to, as fans can plan for the renowned Farnborough International Airshow set to take place July 22-26, 2024.
