Asda, Lidl and Sainsbury’s issue urgent ‘do not eat’ warnings as chocolate, popcorn, fudge and ready meals recalled

UK supermarkets are recalling a number of food products due to safety fears, with a “do not eat” warning issued.

Some of the items, which are sold at retailers including Asda, Lidl and Sainsbury’s, could pose health risks if consumed. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has asked shoppers to return the affected goods as soon as possible.

Some of them could contain small pieces of plastic, Salmonella or allergy ingredients including milk and gluten which are not listed on the label. Among the latest products being withdrawn from the shelves are chocolate, cheese popcorn, fudge and ready meals.

People are asked to check recent purchases to make sure they have not bought any of the affected products. Anyone who does have them in their freezer or cupboard is advised to take them back to the store they bought it from and a full refund will be issued.

Below is a list of all the new recalled products, according to the FSA.

Chocolate

Lidl GB is recalling Fin Carré Milk Chocolate with Hazelnuts because it may contain pieces of plastic. The FSA said the possible presence of plastic makes this product unsafe to eat.
