Day 4 of ATP action in Stuttgart is coming up, as the top two seeds make their debut in the tournament. This will be an exciting day, as we at LWOS have predicted who from the remaining players will move on to the quarterfinals. Who will prevail?

ATP Day 4 Stuttgart Predictions

Yibing Wu vs Marton Fuscovics

Wu stunned Kyrgios in the first round, spoiling the Aussie’s exciting comeback trail. More surprisingly, Wu’s 7-5 6-3 win was his first ever on grass. Fuscovics has dealt with a ranking drop and had to qualify, but he picked up a nice win over Denis Shapovalov. Although Wu will certainly look to keep up his great form, Fuscovics has more experience on grass and should have a bit more momentum coming off a big win. While Wu’s win over Kyrgios was impressive, the Aussie was nowhere near his best.
Prediction: Fuscovics in 3

Jan-Lennard Struff vs Tommy Paul

While Thursday’s order of play primarily highlights the top two seeds, this may be the biggest 50-50 match on paper. Both Stuff and Paul play some of their best tennis on the grass with their big serves and ability to hit countless aces. Stuff is looking for an elusive first ATP title, and is currently one of the best players to not have one yet. I feel that peak Stuff should show up, he certainly has the game as evident in his Madrid run. After a disappointing French Open for the German, this is a good opportunity for Stuff to rebound. Expect a close one though, it could come down to whoever can take advantage of break point opportunities.Prediction: Struff in 3

Aslan Karatsev vs Taylor Fritz

Defending quarterfinalist points at Wimbledon, Fritz will surely want to get some matches under his belt before the big one. Grass is certainly his best surface, as the American picked up two grass court titles over the course of his career, both in Eastbourne. Karatsev is dangerous with his big forehand, but he’s been on a letdown since his surprising run in Madrid. As long as Fritz serves big, he should be able to force Karatsev into loads of unforced errors. This is a great opportunity for Fritz to win his third ATP title.
Prediction: Fritz in 2

Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Richard Gasquet

This should certainly be an exciting (and satisfying) battle of the one-handed backhands. This’ll be an interesting time of year for Tsitsipas, as he often lets up in form after the clay court season. The Greek has made it to or past the quarterfinals seven times at both the Australian and French Open, yet he’s never made it to the quarters in the last two Majors. Potentially a mental roadblock, he’ll definitely want to get off to a good start this grass season. It’s also almost been one year since his last ATP title, which feels like a long time for a Top-5 player to go title-less. Maybe Tsitsidosa will help? While Gasquet has the capability to go far in tournaments, the Greek has more weapons and should win comfortably.
Prediction: Tsitsipas in 2
