The Stowmarket Ladies Vets Trophy was won by Julie Jones scoring 35 points, with 33 points second and third places needing to be separated by countback, and it was Diane Drury who prevailed ahead of Jane Jewers.

The whole ladies section however had the chance to claim glory in the Stableford competition. Mary Ransome topped the leaderboard with 38 points, and yet again the minor placing needed countback to separate Liz Laflin from Kim Davies with 35 points apiece.

Flempton GC

One of the greatest elements of golf is that it can be a truly inclusive game. Equipment and the game itself can be modified to ensure anybody, regardless of age or requirements can play.

Current club captain Bob Cooper and above knee amputee Cris Barlow are hoping to highlight this with their fantastic charity challenge.

On 17th June they are planning to complete 45 continuous holes to raise money for MND (Motor Neurone Disease Association). If you would like to donate, head to justgiving.com and search Cris Barlow.

Suffolk U14 Boys

The Suffolk under 14 boys headed to SouthwoldGC for a match against rivals Norfolk. The team of 8 comprised 6 players from Bury St Edmunds and Stowmarket, highlighting the great Junior work at these clubs.

The format was 9 holes foursomes matchplay in the morning, followed by 18 holes singles after lunch.

It was a tough day against a strong Norfolk side, but special mentions go to Lucas Bond winning his singles match 6 up, Jacob Severn winning 3 up and Ethan McCleary 2 up. The overall score was Norfolk 7 ½ Suffolk 4 ½.
