Charity day to be held for family of mum killed in M66 crash

Charity day to be held for family of mum killed in M66 crash

Frankie Hough, from Chadderton, was in the car with her two sons, Tommy and Rocky, and her nephew, Tobias, on Saturday, May 13 when she was crashed into.

The 38-year-old and her unborn baby girl, Neeve, died days later in hospital.

Frankie’s nine-year-old son, Tommy, and her four-year-old nephew, Tobias Welby, are currently still in hospital receiving treatment following the crash.

Tobias’ family has been providing updates on his condition and have shared pictures of the four-year-old smiling and giving a thumbs up from his hospital bed.

It is understood the other two boys, Rocky and Tommy, are also recovering well.

On Saturday (June 10) a charity day, organised by Ami Carter and Robert Hamilton, is being held at The Shawside pub on Grains Road, Shaw between 1pm and 6pm to raise funds for the families affected by the crash.

Frankie’s Charity Day will see a host of local artists perform live and include a range of activities.

There is set to be a silent auction, live DJ, mascots, and kids entertainment including face painting, hair braiding and a bouncy castle.

A raffle is also being held on the day and prizes include a behind the scenes visit to the Coronation Street and Hollyoaks set, £1,000 worth of beauty treatments, £1,000 worth of cocktail bar vouchers, hotel stays, and vouchers for The Ivy.

The raffle prizes will all be drawn on Sunday (June 11) and streamed live.

On Sunday, the Shaw and Crompton Town Crier announced the details of the day in a video posted on Facebook.

At the beginning of his cry, he says: “Good people of Shaw and Crompton let us do what we do best, let us support each other in times of tragedy.”

He later adds: “Please good people of Shaw and Crompton get behind this most worthy of causes.”

Frankie’s funeral is being held on Friday (June 9) at 10.30am, the day before the charity event, at Blackley Crematorium.

Cars will be leaving Frankie’s home on Edgeware Road in Chadderton before making their way to the crematorium.

In a public post on social media, Frankie’s sister, Becci Welby, announced a special service will be held to “celebrate the life of my beautiful sister Frankie and baby Neeve”.

Becci said attendees can “come as you feel comfortable as this is a celebration of her life and spirit”.

“Lots of colour welcome”, she added.

At an inquest into Frankie’s death, the coroner’s court heard how the mother of two had pulled onto the hard shoulder when a car that was travelling at “excessive speed” lost control and crashed into her car.

A 22-year-old man, Adil Iqbal, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving in relation to the injuries sustained by Tommy and Tobias.

Iqbal will appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on June 19.
