Brighton & Hove Albion defender Victoria Williams has announced the news that she is leaving the club at the end of the season.

The player confirmed her Brighton & Hove Albion exit via a post on her personal Twitter account this evening.

Williams has been a Brighton & Hove Albion player for the last five seasons after joining the club from Sunderland in 2018. The defender has gone on to make 78 appearances for the Sussex club in the Barclays Women’s Super League in which she has scored four goals.

When announcing her Brighton & Hove Albion departure, Williams said “After five years, my time at Brighton comes to an end on Saturday.

“Joining Brighton in their inaugural season in the WSL, I didn’t anticipate at the time how much this club and city would get under my skin. Brighton has been my family away from home and I leave here with memories that will last a lifetime. I’ve experienced us go from somewhat of an unknown entity to an established WSL side and that fills me with immense pride. Wearing the armband and representing this team has been an honour I never once took for granted.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank the club for their trust and belief in me throughout my time here. I’ve grown so much as a player and most importantly as a person. Some of my proudest career moments to date have come in a Brighton shirt and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

“To all my teammates past and present, thank you – it’s honestly been an absolute blast girls and I’m lucky to have built friendships for life.

“Finally to the fans, thank you for everything. I know this season didn’t pan out the way we had hoped but you’ve stuck by us through thick and thin and I know you’ll continue to do so. The vision the club has for the women and girls section going forward is an exciting prospect and they’ll need you every step of the way.

“As one chapter ends, another begins but once a Seagull, always a Seagull.”

Williams could make her final Brighton & Hove Albion appearance against Leicester City at Broadfield Stadium on Saturday.
