Dorking Wanderers manager predicts York City struggle

Dorking Wanderers manager predicts York City struggle

Dorking manager and owner White took part in a YouTube video making his early pre-season predictions for how the National League sides will fare in the upcoming campaign, and had a dark prediction for York.

White opted to place City in the 18th to 20th category, with the club facing another tricky season and against the risk of relegation.

The Minstermen finished in 19th position of the National League next season, accumulating 51 points over 46 matches and only mathematically confirming their safety on the final day after 1-1 draw with promoted Notts County.

Dorking found themselves in a similar bracket as York, but after a good spell in the back end of the season, ended campaign in 16th place with six more points than City.

White took part in a YouTube video with Luke Walsh, who finished second in the Non-League Bible’s Young Content Creator awards, and explained his predictions for the upcoming campaign.

White said: “I’m going to put York there, although they might [surprise]. I’m not going to keep apologising for answering questions.”

White was sent off in the fixture at the LNER Community Stadium last March, as the Minstermen ran out 2-1 victors thanks to goals from Manny Duku and Ryan Fallowfield, before a late consolation from Dan Gallagher.

Elsewhere, Bet365 have also released their odds for the upcoming campaign, and have also predicted the Minstermen to struggle.

The betting company has York at 33/1 favourites to gain promotion, which would see City finish in 16th place with eight teams predicted to have worse odds.

Gateshead, Oxford City, Dorking, Wealdstone, Aldershot Town, Altrincham and Maidenhead United are also facing struggles according to Betf365.

Chesterfield are the outright favourites after their National League play-off final defeat to Notts County last month, whilst Rochdale and Hartlepool are also being tipped to mount immediate promotion aspirations since their relegation from Sky Bet League Two.

Woking, Oldham Athletic, Southend United and Boreham Wood are predicted to finish in the play-offs, with Dagenham & Redbridge, Eastleigh and Barnet all expected to just miss out.
