Empty countryside barns could become modern new homes in Guide

A set of redundant barns in green belt countryside could become modern new homes.

Mr T Foley has applied to Blackburn with Darwen Council for planning permission for the conversions at Moor Farm in Belthorn Road, Guide. His proposal would create two homes and a two bedroom bungalow.

A supporting statement submitted with the application says: “The application site is located close to the junction with Haslingden Road and Belthorn Road in the hamlet of Guide. The site is within an elevated area close to junction 5 of the M65.

“The site comprises a large barn located in the north western part of the site. In the south western part of the site there is a collection of barns and various outbuildings.

“The site is located in the Green belt. The proposed development is for the conversion of the main barn on the site into two dwellings and the conversion of a further barn to a two bedroom bungalow.

“The main part of the barn will be converted into two dwellings. Each dwelling will have a lounge, kitchen/dining area on the ground floor and a study. The main opening will be converted into the entrance to both dwellings. The smaller openings will be utilised to provide windows for the proposed lounges.
