Erik ten Hag will have plenty to ponder in the summer transfer window – including the long-term future of a number of Manchester United players who are currently out of favour.

With the Dutchman still in the dark over his summer budget, it’s anticipated that United will offload a number of fringe stars in a bid to raise additional funds. The likes of Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Donny van de Beek have already been touted as personnel who could be moved on after struggling for minutes during Ten Hag’s premiership.

Manchester United academy graduate Dean Henderson is another name who has been linked heavily with a summer exit – and a concrete proposal for the 26-year-old’s services could be tabled sooner rather than later.

A fresh report from The Manchester Evening News has outlined that Nottingham Forest are planning to pursue a £30million deal for Henderson in the summer transfer window. The shot-stopper spent the season on loan at the City Ground and could be open to staying on after Forest preserved their top-flight status at the weekend.

With Manchester United in the market for a new goalkeeper amid speculation over David de Gea’s long-term future, Ten Hag could make the most of the interest currently being shown in Henderson by cashing in.

Such an outcome could suit Henderson, too, given the England international made clear that he had become disillusioned with life at United earlier this season.

Speaking back in August, Henderson told talkSPORT: “I didn’t want the manager to come in and be able to see me in training. I knew he’d probably want to keep me, so I tried to do it all before I left for the season. I told all the hierarchy I need to go and play football, I don’t want to be here playing second fiddle.
