Everything you need to know about Coventry’s Guz Khan’s new season of Man Like Mobeen

After an action-packed premiere in Birmingham’s creative quarter Digbeth on May 23, Coventry comedian Guz Khan’s BAFTA-nominated series ‘Man Like Mobeen’ will hit the TV screens on June 8 with a brand-new season.

Guz will be reprising his role as the infamous Mobeen in the comedy drama, set in Small Heath. The series follows reformed drug-dealer Mobeen, as he attempts to live an honest and decent life providing for his little sister while trying to escape his troubled past.

Thirty-seven-year-old Guz Khan grew up in Hillfields and later graduated from Coventry University and taught Humanities at Grace Academy. He rose to fame after producing a comedy sketch about ‘Jurassic Park’ and was asked to perform on Joe Lycett’s show. Since then, he has starred in Netflix series ‘Turn Up Charlie’ with Idris Elba, performed ‘Live At The Apollo’ and of course, made his own hit-show Man Like Mobeen.

What is Season 4 all about?

Season 4 will follow Mobeen and Nate’s life in prison, which is the primary setting of the new series.

In the last episode of season three after the death of fan favourite Eight, who was played by Tez Ilyas, Mobeen and Nate must navigate the world of prison life, which is the main setting of the latest season. Season 4 will show the pair adapting to life inside, with familiar faces set to return in unexpected situation.

According to the synopsis, BBC Three explain: “Viewers first met reformed drug-dealer Mobeen as he was trying to turn his life around living as a good Muslim, looking after his little sister, all whilst trying to escape his dodgy past catching up with him. Since then he’s made a fair crack at it but, in the cliff-hanger of a series three finale, he found himself banged-up behind bars with Nate, after their close friend Eight had been killed…

“As they adjust to a new life inside, with familiar faces returning in very unexpected situations, Mobeen and Nate need to negotiate a new set of challenges – but can our haphazard heroes make it to the end of their sentence without causing more mayhem and come good on their dream of living a quiet life? Will Aks finally accomplish her goal of training to be a doctor, and will evil Uncle Khan keep a relatively low profile in Pakistan, or manage to torment Mobeen from afar?”
