Five arrested in Hockley murder probe after man stabbed to death

Police have arrested five people after a man was fatally stabbed in Birmingham leading to a murder investigation being launched. The stabbing incident took place in Hunters Road in Hockley shortly after 8pm on Monday (June 12), with a 41-year-old confirmed dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Hunters Road at 8.02pm on Monday night. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and the West Midlands Care Team were sent to the scene.

“On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in a critical condition. Ambulance staff immediately began administering specialist trauma care but, sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed dead at the scene.”

Now West Midlands Police confirmed it has arrested five people in connection with the death. A woman aged 37 was arrested on suspicion of murder a short time after the incident, along with a man aged 43, who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

The woman has been released on bail while the man remains in custody. Now officers have confirmed that three more people have been arrested, two men, aged 18 and 23, on suspicion of murder. While a 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender

Police officers remain at the scene of the stabbing on Wednesday as further forensic work is carried out and while more witnesses are spoken to and CCTV footage reviewed. But the force is still appealing for more witnesses to come foreward.
