Four Johnstown players named to Foothills Council girls’ lacrosse all-star team

The Johnstown girls’ lacrosse team placed four players on the Foothills Council all-star team this spring.

Leading the way was senior Molly Sweeney, who was named to the first team.

Junior Jena Barker was named a second-team all-star, while seniors Amia Hall and Nicole Simon were named honorable mention.

Queensbury had four players named first-team all-stars. Kendra Ballard, Bayley Duffy, Kaitlyn Barton and Katie Gannon all earned first-team honors for the Spartans.

Glens Falls placed Ava Pirozzolo, Amanda Maurer and Brooke Eggleston on the first team, while Scotia-Glenville’s Karaline McCarthy and Tia Jack also earned first-team honors.

Rounding out the first-team selections were South Glens Falls’ Addisyn Buckley, Schuylerville’s Macey Koval and Greenwich’s MacKenzie Dixson.

In addition to its four first-team selections, Queensbury also had Kendal Kelsey, Meredith Montgomery, Kayla Zehr and Lilly Trowbridge named to the second team.

Glens Falls had Clara Avery, Cara Harrington and Zoe Zachar named to the second team, while Scotia-Glenville’s Lily Dempsey and Alice Nichter also earned second-team honors.

Completing the second team were South Glens Falls’ Lillian Willis, Schuylerville’s Star Pflieger and Greenwich’s Maeve Kelleher.

Queensbury placed Kady Duffy and Sarah Johnson earn honorable-mention status, while Schuylerville’s Alayna Wian and Anika Buff also were named honorable mention.

Scotia-Glenville’s Maya Westbrook and Kortney Clark, South Glens Falls’ Rowan DeMarco and Natalie Keegan, and Glens Falls’ Frances McTiernan and Piper Eddy all earned honorable-mention status.

Greenwich’s Catharine Abate and Molly Abate rounded out the honorable-mention selections.

South Glens Falls earned the league’s Sportsmanship Award.

Amsterdam/Broadalbin-Perth did not field a varsity team this spring.
