Horror as family, including two-year-old boy, hit by car near Merry Hill shopping centre

A family – including a two-year-old boy – were hit by a car near Merry Hill shopping centre. A man and woman were rushed to hospital with ‘potentially serious’ injuries following the incident.

Emergency services were called to Level Street, Brierley Hill, at around 8.36pm on Friday, June 9. The three pedestrians were treated at the scene before they were taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The youngster was not believed to be seriously hurt, medics said. He has since been released from hospital and is being looked after by relatives.

West Midlands Police officers were also at the scene. BirminghamLive has contacted the force for comment.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to reports of a collision between a car and pedestrians on Level Street at 8.36pm on Friday. Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the West Midlands Care Team attended the scene.

“On arrival we discovered three patients, all pedestrians. A man and woman were treated for potentially serious injuries whilst a child was treated for injuries not believed to be serious. All three were then taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.”
