Klopp tells Liverpool attacker he has no place in his plans as prime suitors prepare second bid

Klopp tells Liverpool attacker he has no place in his plans as prime suitors prepare second bid

Liverpool have already made it clear to Fabio Carvalho that he is not part of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for next season, according to a report, which has caught the attention of his main bidders.

Carvalho only joined Liverpool last summer from Fulham, but the attacking midfielder found it hard to earn regular gametime in Klopp’s system. By the end of his debut season with the club, he had only managed to start four Premier League matches.

Therefore, there is an expectation that Carvalho won’t be playing for Liverpool again next season. The only question is whether he will be loaned out or sold.

Liverpool’s preference remains for any exit to be temporary, since he still has potential that he could fulfil while under contract until 2027.

However, Carvalho has some concerns about being loaned out and may prefer a permanent exit if possible.

With that in mind, reports recently revealed that RB Leipzig had made a bid for the 20-year-old. However, their attempt to take him to Germany was rejected by Liverpool.

According to an update from Football Insider, though, the Bundesliga side are ready to make a second offer to Liverpool.

Their previous approach was for a transfer worth more than £10m, which would have given Liverpool a profit. It is not yet clear what the value of their second bid might be.

But they aren’t willing to give up on the transfer yet, despite Liverpool originally telling them that Carvalho was not for sale.

Simultaneously, they have told the player himself that Klopp doesn’t have a role in mind for him next season. Therefore, it is obviously in his best interests to look for opportunities elsewhere.

Liverpool could sell Carvalho on one condition

As has already been suggested, Liverpool might tell RB Leipzig that they can have Carvalho on a permanent transfer, but only if there is a buyback clause in the Premier League side’s favour.

That way, Liverpool could still have some degree of control over Carvalho’s career, while being able to grant him his wish of leaving on a permanent basis.

Behind Carvalho’s desire for a permanent transfer is the theory that whoever takes him should have plans to use him more regularly. Of course, that hasn’t happened at Liverpool, but it might be a different story elsewhere.

Several talented prospects have developed in the Bundesliga in recent years, providing Carvalho with a pathway to follow.

Alternatively, the report reminds that he has admirers at Burnley, Brentford and West Ham. However, if any of them are battling against relegation next season, there is a worry that they might view giving opportunities to Carvalho as a risk.

Therefore, the idea of joining RB Leipzig – who, unlike even Liverpool, have Champions League football on offer next season – is particularly appealing as things stand.

Now, the ball is in their court as they prepare to serve up their next offer to his current employers at Liverpool.
