Scott Parker has been “discussed” at Leeds United as Angus Kinnear geared up to provide a manager shortlist ready for when the takeover of the club is completed, Phil Hay reports.
A 100% sale agreement between the 49ers and Andrea Radrizzani has been reached [Daily Mail, 6 June], with the details sent to the EFL to ratify the deal.
Of all the work that needs doing at Elland Road this summer the appointment of a new manager is reportedly considered “the much bigger priority internally” and Parker, 42, is under consideration base don his record in the Championship, but there is competition for him from fellow relegated club Leicester.
Writing in The Athletic Hay said: “Last week, Leeds’ chief executive, Angus Kinnear, began assessing and approaching potential managerial candidates with a view to establishing whether they were interested and what their demands would be.
“The club wanted to be in a position where a viable shortlist was in place for the moment a formal offer could be made.”
And of the former England midfielder he said: “Scott Parker has been discussed on the basis he won promotion from the Championship twice before, with Fulham and Bournemouth. Leicester City are another possible destination for him.”

Parker may have flamed out early in the Premier League with Bournemouth this season but his record in the second tier speaks for itself.
Gary O’Neil’s subsequent work with the Cherries, coupled with a miserable spell for Parker with Club Brugge that didn’t last three months, have seen the latter’s reputation suffer in the past year.
But he has a 100% promotion record in the Championship since he became a manager, and that is exactly what Leeds United are after, so he could be an attractive option for the incoming 49ers regime.
He would appear to make more sense on paper than Steven Gerrard, who has reportedly been in talks with the Whites already about the job [Football Transfers, 5 June].
In both cases however the Foxes are now reported to be rivals, and will necessarily be a draw as recent FA Cup winners, and slightly less recent Premier League champions, if they have any money to spend.
Kinnear will have been having to play for time since the season ended, but with the takeover apparently now happening he can start making up for lost time.
In other Leeds United news, an Elland Road struggler has multiple clubs ready to sign him this summer according to Fabrizio Romano.
