Leeds United news as former managerial target lines up next job as exodus moves closer

Here are tonight’s latest Leeds United evening headlines, on Tuesday, June 13.

Former managerial target set for new club

Rayo Vallecano boss Andoni Iraola was one of the early frontrunners to replace Jesse Marsch after Leeds United parted company with the American in February. A former player of Marcelo Bielsa, Iraola has previously spoke about his dream of managing in the Premier League, but it looks as though his next job will see him remain in Spain.

While Leeds are again looking for a new manager, having burned through two head coaches since their initial interest in Iraola, the Whites have not been linked with the former Athletic Bilbao defender this time around following their relegation to the Premier League.

With Iraloa refusing to sign a new deal at Vallecano, he is set to leave the club after three season in charge, with Diario del Almeria reporting that the 40-year-old’s next port of call will be La Liga side Almeria.

Leeds’ managerial search continues, with Daniel Farke the bookmakers’ favourite for the post.

Momentum building towards Leeds United exodus with Marc Roca first in line

Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca appears to be on the verge of an Elland Road exit this summer. If reports in Spain are to be believed, Roca is close to joining Real Betis on loan for the 2023-24 campaign, just 12 months after making the switch to Leeds from Bayern Munich.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Betis, who will be competing in Europe next season, have beaten off competition to sign Roca, who struggled to find consistency during his one season in the Premier League, which ended in Leeds being relegated to the Championship. The Spaniard knows La Liga well, of course, and it seems as though he’ll spend next season attempting to get his career back on track under Manuel Pellegrini.
