The summer-long fundraiser kick-starts with Leyland Trucks’ infamous truck pull. On Sunday 25 June, several teams will take on the challenge of heaving an eight-tonne DAF truck over a 125 ft course in the fastest time, which takes place during St Catherine’s Hospice’s Yellow Ribbon Memory Day – an event which attracts more than 1,000 supporters each year.

On Saturday 1 July, the Ride and Ramble Day features a 1k and 10k walk, as well as a bike ride along Preston’s Guild Wheel trail and an 80-mile Touch the White Rose ride to Settle.

Sunday 9 July will see fun runners and experienced athletes lace up to walk, jog or run 1k or 10k around the scenic Cuerden Valley Park. The series of events then culminates on Saturday 19 August with a group taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge.

Helping Hand is a non-profit organisation run by a committee of Leyland Trucks and PACCAR Parts employees, which has raised more than £1million to help local causes and disadvantaged people.

“#LinkingLeyland is borne out of the determination to give back to those on our doorstep, and every year I’m overwhelmed by the support of our supply chain partners plus those hundreds of people who give up their time to pull, cycle, walk, run and climb, and ultimately turn distances into money.

“Every penny raised goes towards helping to deliver life-changing support when those in our community need it most. This year’s nominated charities are a lifeline for our friends, families, neighbours and colleagues in times of need, and it’s awe-inspiring to see organisations and individuals dig deep and give up their time to support our fundraising mission.

“This year’s charity fundraiser encapsulates everything Helping Hand does best – connecting people, businesses and communities to benefit those in need. It’s a real family affair that showcases the true impact we can have by joining together. Each event is packed with community spirit, and I wish every participant the best of luck – and here’s hoping for good weather!”
