Liverpool news and transfers LIVE – Benjamin Pavard claim, Mason Mount latest, Mohamed Salah message

Hello and welcome to the ECHO’s dedicated Liverpool news and transfers blog on Friday, May 26.

Liverpool’s participation in the 2023/24 Europa League was confirmed last night as Manchester United secured a top-four Premier League finish with a victory over Chelsea at Old Trafford.

It means the Reds will find themselves back in UEFA’s secondary European competition for the first time since 2016 when they were beaten by Sevilla in the final.

In the aftermath of Liverpool’s fifth-place finish being confirmed by results in Greater Manchester, Mohamed Salah blasted his side’s failure to qualify for Europe’s premier competition.

On the transfer front, the Reds have been linked with a summer move for Bayern Munich and France defender Benjamin Pavard – with reports in Germany claiming Liverpool have enquired about the 2018 World Cup winner’s situation in Bavaria.

Prior to Chelsea’s defeat at Man United, interim manager Frank Lampard provided a comprehensive update on Mason Mount’s contract stand-off with the Londoners.

Reds make an enquiry about World Cup-winning full-back

Liverpool have reportedly enquired about Benjamin Pavard’s situation at Bayern Munich ahead of the summer transfer window.

The French international made the move to the Bundesliga giants in the months after winning the 2018 World Cup and has won all of the titles available to win during his time in Munich.

However, according to the German publication Kicker, Liverpool have made an enquiry about the versatile defender who has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal with Bayern.
