Jurgen Klopp is preparing for a busy summer in the transfer window as his Liverpool side look set to miss out on a top four spot with a number of new faces needed
Change is already afoot at Liverpool after a disappointing Premier League campaign which looks likely to cost them Champions League football next season.
The Reds needs a miracle to claim a top four place, while plans have already turned to the summer transfer window. Groundwork has already begun on various transfers ahead of the expected imminent appointment of Jorg Schmadtke as new sporting director.

Carragher’s two ideal transfers
Jamie Carragher would be “delighted” if Liverpool’s pursuit to strengthen their midfield this summer sees Chelsea’s Mason Mount and Brighton’s Alexis Mac Allister arrive on Merseyside.
Both players have been linked with a move to the Red, with a fee of £60m said to be enough to land World Cup winner Mac Allister, who Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi has admitted could depart this summer.

Mount’s situation is a little less clear despite him entering the final 12 months of his contract. Chelsea have a wealth of options in midfield but Mauricio Pochettino could see the England international as an integral part of his plans.

Klopp’s transfer failure
It’s not often Liverpool’s manager and the club’s recruitment team get it wrong, though there are a few blemishes on Klopp’s record of transfer hits and misses.
While the successes very much outweigh the failures, one player who does sadly fall into the latter category is Takumi Minamino.
There were high hopes for the Japanese forward upon signing from RB Salzburg back in January 2020. But after struggling to find his feet at Anfield, despite a decent loan spell at Southampton, Minamino was sold to Monaco last summer.

Firmino’s parting gift
Roberto Firmino has long since proved he is one of the classiest operators around on the field – but that also extends, unsurprisingly, to the Brazilian’s actions off it.
The 31-year-old forward bid farewell to Anfield following the final home game on Saturday, but threw a party at the stadium the following evening to say his goodbyes to team-mates and staff.
The bash included a three-course meal, with speeches from Firmino himself, Klopp and captain Jordan Henderson.
But Firmino put the added touch of class on the occasion by giving every attendee a touching parting gift.
