Liverpool transfer news as 12-goal ‘next David Silva wanted’ and Jürgen Klopp ‘option’ emerges
Liverpool looks set to be playing Europa League football next season and big changes are needed within Jürgen Klopp’s squad, particularly in the center of the pitch.
Having waved goodbye to four players already, and with more exits possible over the course of the next couple of months, Liverpool will need to be active in the market and there is an acceptance that investment is required.
That means that a number of players are being linked with transfer moves to Anfield, even if Alexis Mac Allister, Mason Mount and Ryan Gravenberch are among those names being considered the most.

If those main targets are not acquired, then Liverpool will be forced to look elsewhere for reinforcements, with bodies needed to be added to replace some of those who are on the way out.
What will the criteria be? Availability is right up there as the most important aspect, while more creative options who fit more naturally than Jordan Henderson into the attacking number eight roles will also be prioritized.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today, with two impressive midfield options in the Netherlands emerging as supposed targets.
Orkun Kökçü (Feyenoord)
According to Football Transfers, Liverpool has put 22-year-old Feyenoord star Orkun Kökçü on its transfer shortlist ahead of the summer, with the exciting talent another option for the Reds alongside Mac Allister.
Kökçü has scored 12 times in 44 appearances this season for the Dutch side, in addition to providing five assists for his teammates. Profile-wise, he is an all-rounder in the same mold as Mac Allister.

Speaking on the Analysing Anfield podcast, Liverpool.com’s Josh Williams noted recently: “StatsBomb have a metric called the doppelganger metric and someone asked who is the most similar U23 to current David Silva. This lad came up as the second-most similar behind Pedri of Barcelona.”
Liverpool.com says: Hopefully, the Reds do not need back-up options for their first-choice targets, but unlike last summer, it won’t be one man or no one. If Mac Allister cannot be brought in, then it will be someone else for the Liverpool midfield.
Tijjani Reijnders (AZ Alkmaar)
Another player in the Netherlands that Liverpool is supposedly keeping an eye on, Tijjani Reijnders is slightly older than Kökçü at 24, but is another to have had an impressive campaign.
Again linked with a move to Anfield by Football Transfers, Reijnders has been at Alkmaar since 2017 but has recently become a nailed-on first-team starter. He has made 124 appearances at senior level to date. He too is said to be a Liverpool transfer ‘option’.
Liverpool.com says: Once again, while Reijnders might be on Liverpool’s list somewhere, there are more proven options higher up in terms of priorities. Liverpool needs guarantees this summer, and while both of these players might be very good, someone like Mac Allister would almost certainly require less time to adapt, having already played in the Premier League.
