Major Liverpool catering firm in liquidation owing more than £800,000

A major Liverpool catering company has gone into liquidation owing creditors more than £800,000 – including a substantial sum to Liverpool City Council.

Relish Event Catering Ltd has been voluntarily wound up, with liquidators from Cowgill Holloway Business Recovery LLP now appointed. Documents on Companies House indicate that at the point of being wound up, Relish Event Catering owed more than £819,000 to creditors.

These creditors include Liverpool City Council, which is owed more than £21,000 by the catering firm. A range of other creditors are listed including a number of local, independent businesses.

The company’s director Kiara Mako also runs a retail business under the Relish name, with permanent venues at the Royal Liver Building, The Capital Building and Liverpool Central Library. She said the retail arm of her business is separate and unaffected by the liquidation of the catering side.

She said economic challenges and the covid pandemic had led to the problems that saw Relish Catering fold into liquidation.

Ms Mako said: “We are proud to have supplied catering services across the North West, but due to changes in the market following the pandemic and economic challenges, we made the difficult decision to focus solely on our retail businesses.
