A man who threatened to bomb a secondary school in Oxfordshire has escalated his threats by naming more on his list.

A bomb threat investigation was launched yesterday, after a man sent a message to the Oxford Mail claiming he was “going to bomb The Marlborough School in Woodstock”.

This was reported to Thames Valley Police early on Wednesday morning, May 24, and after conducting their investigation the police confirmed “there is no credible threat”.

A new threat to bomb Gosford Hill School in Kidlington has since been made and the man renewed his threat to bomb The Marlborough School.

In response to the latest threats, a Thames Valley Police spokesman said he was “aware of a number of additional malicious messages being posted to public social media groups mentioning The Marlborough School and Gosford Hill School”.

He said the police were continuing to take the communications “extremely seriously” and the investigation “continues to identify those involved”.

The spokesman has stressed that “there is no credible threat”.

An Oxford Mail reporter has visited these schools at around 11.30am and said both were running as per normal, with no signs of evacuations taking place.

A Thames Valley Spokesman has said: “We would ask everyone to go about their normal daily lives and to remain vigilant.

“Both schools remain open as normal and we would ask that anyone receiving messages of this nature to contact us on 101 or using our online form.

“Neighbourhood Officers will be around the area to provide reassurance and speak with parents and students if necessary.”
