Manchester United transfer news LIVE Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe latest plus David De Gea future

Manchester United transfer news LIVE Sheikh Jassim and Sir Jim Ratcliffe latest plus David De Gea future

The transfer window is now a few days old and it is eagerly anticipated which players Manchester United will sign this summer.

United are seeking to be active in the market in the months to come and will aim to boast a stronger squad for Erik ten Hag to call upon by the time the window closes at the start of September. Several areas within the squad could be strengthened.

A new centre forward is among the priorities and several targets are options United could turn to. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is a candidate, as is Rasmus Hojlund of Atalanta, while Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane is United’s top choice but is believed to be unlikely to be heading to Old Trafford owing to the London side’s reluctance to sell to a Premier League rival.

Central midfield is also an area earmarked for strengthening, with Chelsea’s Mason Mount on the list. Though personal terms have been agreed with the player, a transfer fee is yet to be agreed with the Stamford Bridge outfit.

And goalkeeper is another part of the United squad under the microscope. An impact on the transfer business in this area of the team will depend on if David De Gea remains at United or not, with his contract at the club just weeks away from expiring and no new deal yet agreed.

TODAY’S BIG QUESTION: Should United make Rasmus Hojlund their principal striker target this summer? Have your say here.

Eriksen ‘can see’ Hojlund at United

Christian Eriksen is currently away on international duty with Denmark and admits he could see countryman Rasmus Hojlund at United next season.

The Atalanta striker is among the list of targets United have for this summer and talks have been held with the striker about a potential move to Old Trafford, though no bid has been lodged as of yet.

But Eriksen has been very complimentary of his fellow Dane and admits he could see him at United next season, though he admits he is unsure about the club’s view regarding bidding for his international team-mate.

Bayern Munich’s Goretzka pours cold water on United transfer rumours

I have no other plans than staying at Bayern. We have big plans for next year, as Joshua Kimmich said after the Ukraine game.

Competition in the squad is a basic prerequisite for the success of FC Bayern. Those responsible are fulfilling their duty to question everything. But I am just as sure that we will find our way back on the road to success together in the new season.

Talks open over signing Fletcher’s sons

News broke yesterday evening that United have opened talks with cross-town rivals City over signing United technical director Darren Fletcher’s twin sons Jack and Tyler.

The 16-year-olds have come through the youth team route at the Etihad Stadium club but now could be on their way to Old Trafford to link up with their father.

No bid has been tabled yet and only preliminary talks have taken place so far, but the duo have been monitored by United for a number of years before discussions began over a deal last week.

De Gea ‘increasingly likely’ to leave United

United confirmed in their retained list yesterday when it came out that talks remained ongoing with David De Gea’s camp over the potential of him extending his time at Old Trafford.

De Gea’s contract at United expires at the end of this month and, with no new deal yet agreed, it means his time at the club could come to a conclusion in just a few weeks from now.

It means he could well become a free agent very shortly and could lead to an intensification of the club’s search for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Here’s the latest on his future.

David De Gea is yet to agree to a new United deal
