Marvel’s Demonic Spider-Man Comes to Life as an Astonishing Cosplay

Marvel’s Demonic Spider-Man Comes to Life as an Astonishing Cosplay

A talented cosplayer transformed themselves into Rek-Rap, the demonic Spider-Man from the current Amazing Spider-Man run.

Creature visual effects and fabrication specialist Karrver Studio shared their rendition of Rek-Rap, the always-grinning Spider-Man, on Twitter. Making his first appearance in 2022’s Amazing Spider-Man #17 (by Zeb Wells, Ed McGuinness, Cliff Rathburn, Marcio Menyz and VC’s Joe Caramagna), Rek-Rap is a demon originating from Limbo who became inspired to become a superhero after being rescued by Spider-Man. He initially called himself “Parker-Man” and applied for a role in the Insidious Six, but was turned down for his passion for heroism. After being rejected by Ben Reilly/Chasm’s new supervillain team, the demon was aided by an alchemist who merged a Symbiote with the demon’s Spider-Man t-shirt and transformed him into a creepy-looking, albeit warm-hearted, caricature of his hero.

Karrver Studio uploaded four photos of its Rek-Rap cosplay, all of which show the demon with his big grin from various angles. The response on Twitter towards Karrver Studio’s Rek-Rap cosplay has been overly positive, with many praising the costume as an incredible interpretation of the comic book character. Wells, himself, praised the cosplay by saying, “REKRAP walks among us.”

The Multiverse’s Spider-Men Take Over in Across the Spider-Verse

Although there has been no confirmation that Rek-Rap will appear in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, co-director Justin Thompson said that almost a hundred Spider-People will be featured in the film. Among the new faces appearing in the highly-anticipated animated movie are Spider-Man India, Spider-Woman, Spider-Punk and Spider-Man 2099, who appeared in the post-credit scene for Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse and is voiced by Oscar Isaac (Moon Knight, Dune). Spider-Gwen, Peter B. Parker, Miles Morales and a number of other characters from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will also return for the sequel, which releases theatrically on June 2.

In a promotional artwork for Prime Video, Miles is seen with the live-action actors of Spider-Man, all of which have been involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe via Spider-Man: No Way Home. The Prime Video art suggests Across the Spider-Verse may include a cameo from the live-action Spider-Man movies. The second trailer for Across the Spider-Verse also included a line where Spider-Man 2099 complains about “Doctor Strange and the little nerd back on Earth-199999.”
