New Nottinghamshire pizza restaurant opening sees hungry customers queue out of the door

A new restaurant bringing a taste of Italy is the latest business to open its doors at a new £30m business park in Gedling. Pizza Triangle joins Aldi, Birds Bakery and Lighthouse charity shop at the site off Magenta Way between Colwick and Burton Joyce.

A first day giveaway had people queuing out of the door at lunchtime, eager to try a free slice of the authentic Neapolitan pizza, fresh from a wood-fired oven. The restaurant, in Morado Way, is close to the new Rivendell housing estate, off the A612 Colwick Loop Road, which will have more than 800 homes once complete.

As well as 11 pizzas such as margherita, prosciutto, and pepperoni , food lovers can also choose their own toppings from a 30-strong list featuring chicken. blue cheese, egg and vegan-friendly mozzarella. With vegan options and gluten-free bases available too no one has to miss out.

Pizza prices start at £8.90 rising to £13.90 but anyone who eats in on Mondays will get 30 per cent off. Sides such as focaccia, potato wedges and salads are on sale along with Italian gelato. The restaurant isn’t licensed but there are 0% beers and cider as well as a range of cold drinks.

Customers can eat in at tables with red and white check tablecloths, or sit on high stools at the counter. Takeaway and delivery will also be on offer.

It is the fifth branch of Pizza Triangle, which first began in Newcastle-Under-Lyme, in Staffordshire, in 2018, and now has branches in Hackney, Solihull, Stoke-on-Trent and Walsall. There are plans to expand further north to Manchester, as well as opening more in Nottinghamshire.

The dough is fermented for more than 48 hours, creating a light, tasty, easily digestible sourdough base. Operations manager Sapa Nur said: “It cooks for just 90 seconds It’s very flavourful and we import everything from Italy – flour, cheese and tomatoes for the right taste of Italy. We filled a gap in the market, changing the perception of pizza from the American-style ones with lots of cheese and toppings. This one is the right ratio.

“We are planning to open two more in Nottinghamshire. This place was a new development, and through our estate agents, this was offered to us. When we came here it was an empty place – nothing had been built.

“We needed to start from somewhere in Nottingham. We have plans to expand in Nottinghamshire but we don’t have locations yet.”

Martin Kershaw, 33, who works nearby, said: “I think it will be good for the area – there aren’t many takeaways around here. You can’t really go really go wrong with pizza.”
