Nottingham Forest news and transfers live: Arsenal and Liverpool tussle, Dean Henderson update

Hello and welcome to live Nottingham Forest updates on Wednesday, 24 May, 2023.

There’s just a few days to go until Forest play their last Premier League game of the season, but they now know that they will be involved in the competition next season after securing safety at the weekend. In an afternoon to remember at the City Ground, Steve Cooper’s side came out as 1-0 winners over Arsenal to seal survival.

It means that fans and players can make the journey down to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in a relaxed mood, with it expected to be a party atmosphere in the away end. A win would see the Reds move onto that magical 40 points mark, which would have been the target when the ball was first kicked way back in August.

After making sure of their Premier League status, eyes would have already turned to preparations for the end of the season, most notable, the upcoming summer transfer window. Cooper was backed heavily last year, and while there is not expected to be as much change, there will still be some activity.

The Reds have already been linked with players, with decisions also to be made about some players already in the squad and their futures at the City Ground.

Henderson wants Nottingham Forest transfer

Dean Henderson would ‘very much like’ to sign for Nottingham Forest next season after Premier League status was secured for another season.

That is according to BT Sport and BBC Radio Five Live broadcaster Darren Fletcher, who joined players in celebrating survival after the 1-0 win over Arsenal on Saturday.

Henderson was at the City Ground as he was spotted nervously counting down the minutes to the final whistle. He has not played since January after suffering a thigh injury against Leicester City. Nonetheless he has been fully invested in Forest, despite being on loan from Manchester United.

Forest face Arsenal and Liverpool competition

Nottingham Forest have “taken an interest” in Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney.

The 20-year-old broke into the Boro first team this season, making 36 appearances in the Championship as Michael Carrick’s team reached the play-offs.

Arsenal and Liverpool have scouted the youngster, with Newcastle United and Leicester City also said to be keen. There are likely to be other suitors and there could be a large transfer battle for his signature in the coming months.
