Helga M. Hauk

SCARBOROUGH – Helga M. Hauk, 83, passed away on June 19, 2023 following a brief illness. Born on Dec. 21, 1939, in Tübingen, Germany, Helga’s life was a beautiful tapestry of memories woven together through her many passions and experiences. As the poet Maya Angelou once said, “A person is the product of their dreams. So make sure to dream great dreams. And then try to live your dream.” Helga truly lived her dreams and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her.

Helga’s love for antiques and the stories they held was reflected in her career as a dealer with her company, Downeast Runners. She spent countless hours pouring over antique magazines, researching the treasures she had found, and visiting antique shops. Her keen eye for the unique and valuable extended beyond material possessions to her beloved Yorkies and the gardens she meticulously tended at her residence in Scarborough. Helga’s zest for life and genuine love for her hobbies were infectious, and her presence brought a special warmth to Hauk Hill Farm, the family camp in Limington.

Though she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Coin Hauk, her father, Erich Pfersdorff, and her mother, Liselotte Pfersdorff. Helga is survived by her two children, Danny Hauk and his wife Timi Horton of Texas, and Rebecca Hauk of Scarborough. They, along with the many friends and family whose lives she touched, will remember her for her captivating spirit and her unwavering love.

In the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson, “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” Helga Hauk did just that, leaving an indelible mark on the world through the lives she touched and the memories she leaves behind.
