Promo Zo talks us through a selection of classic and fresh Drum and Bass

THE Garden of England has always had a strong bond with Drum and Bass and DJ Promo Zo has long been operating behind the scenes in Kent and beyond.

A music industry insider with a vast working history spanning back to the now defunct Limelight Club, React Records and more presently Sundown Festival, ZO has a deep-rooted musical journey and is enjoying hard earned success.

She’s currently preparing for a slew of amazing summer shows including Worried About Henry at Dreamland, Margate, Hospitality on the Beach in Croatia, the launch of her own event Four::mula at the Ton of Brix, Pure Science in her home town Maidstone plus Drum & Bass Classics at LDN East.

Together with representing artists including former BBC 1Xtra’s Bailey and D&B’s amp man 2Shy MC, it’s safe to say the girl knows her beats.

We caught up with her this week and she has compiled a selection of classic and fresh Drum and Bass for our listening pleasure.Listen to her playlist below and read what she had to say about each track.

KICKING OFF WITH THE CLASSICS

Bad Company UK – Planet Dust 

One of many Bad Company UK all time classics, such a heavyweight track. We will undoubtedly be hearing this one at the Four::mula launch event at the Ton of Brix as they headline the show on 14th July.

Scorpio Guess on V Recordings

A Planet V Jungle classic encapsulating 30 years of the legendary label and definitely in the play list for Pure Science at Revival Festival Maidstone.

Leviticus Burial on Philly Blunt 

Another Planet V Jungle classic that I just can not be without. One for the original Junglists.

Konnect (UK) – Margate on Conjunction Recordings

This will always be one for Margate which no doubt I will be playing at Worried About Henry at Dreamland this month. Produced by myself and 2Shy MC aka Konnect (UK) paying homage to our favourite seaside town, love you Margs.

Trevelyan & Icarus – Fruit X on Undiluted

I absolutely love dropping this one at Drum and Bass Classics, so expect it in Julys set a LDN East.

My bootleg of Don’t Play With it by Lola Brook which just so happens to be a free download on SoundCloud, this one went off at The Volks in Brighton! If you’re into hard hip hop spitters and dirty basslines look no further!

Riddim Punks – Londons Burning ft. King Ali Baba & Riko Dan T>I Remix on Nice Up Records

This one is a total stonker and you will most definitely hear me playing my own VIP version of this track! Big love to King Ali Baba in Jamaica and one of my favourite         producers on the remix T>I.

Billion Dollar Gravy – Watch The Ride remix on Hospital Records

This one is just perfect for Hospitality on The Beach in Croatia this summer, a weighty remix of a London Electricity classic by Watch The Ride.

Carlito – Take Me Down on Liquid V

An absolute stinker from Carlito that I will drop and any given opportunity! Especially on my weekly Wednesday Bassdrive show, big up the WuW Crew!

Skools Out by Mistic and Sweatleaf on Formation Records

This one absolutely goes off! The scenes from dropping this in my set at last years Sundown Festival in Norwich were immense! I can’t wait for this years Sundown.
