People living 15 miles away from a major music festival have complained that they cannot sleep as their walls shake and rattle at night.

Residents of towns and villages such as Long Eaton, Matlock and Hallam in Derbyshire have said the four-day Download Festival, which began on Thursday and ends tomorrow, at Donington Park in Leicestershire has been keeping them up at night.

Derbyshire Police confirmed they had received a number of complaints about the noise coming from the rock festival in a neighbouring county, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Some residents took to social media to report that the loud music was bothering them, with one asking: “Is it Download you can hear around Kirk Hallam this evening, or is it someone living out their rock and roll dreams on the back garden?”

One reply agreed, saying: “It’s amazing, could actually hear Metallica singing.”

Another resident said: “This is crazy. My walls are rattling during the Metallica set. Free gig I suppose.”
