Sheffield United keen on signing Faitout Maouassa from Montpellier

Sheffield United are keen on signing Club Brugge left-back Faitout Maouassa, according to reports coming from France this week.

Allez Paillade quotes information from respected French outlet L’Equipe in saying United are among a cluster of teams looking at signing the 24-year-old left-back.

Maouassa has spent this past season out on loan in Ligue 1 with Montpellier. He has featured regularly and performed well for the French side, scoring five goals in 32 appearances.

Sheffield United linked with Faitout Maouassa

The reports from France suggest that United, Werder Bremen, and some French clubs are all keen on bringing the left-back in this summer.

Why Chelsea FINALLY Turned A Corner.

Maouassa has emerged as one of the starring full-backs in Ligue 1 and Sheffield United’s interest is no surprise. With a limited budget, the Blades will need to be smart in the market this summer.

Club Brugge are unlikely to demand huge sums for Maouassa. Indeed, the fact United now have Premier League money could be a big factor here.

Paul Heckingbottom is thought to want a new wing-back at the club. The future of Enda Stevens remains unclear, while Max Lowe has had injury problems and Rhys Norrington-Davies is more likely to be used as a centre-back.

The Blades need to be smart this summer with their spending and recruitment. The example that keeps getting used is Anel Ahmedhodzic and while it seems to be repeated a lot, it is the right example to look towards.

If Maouassa can have the impact at a club like United like he has with Montpellier, then the Blades might unearth another gem.

At 24, he is a good age to improve and develop and with Manchester United having looked at him in the past, it’s clear the talent is there.
