Step back in time at the 47th annual Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza

Tickets are set to go on sale for one of the largest stream, vintage and countryside events in the country. The 47th annual Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza takes place from August 4 to 6 at South Cerney Airfield near Cirencester. The three-day extravaganza spans a 200-acre ex-wartime airfield.

Visitors can expect a display of nearly 1,000 classic cars from various eras, including pre and post-war vehicles, American classics, and modern marvels. Additionally, the event will showcase 300 motorcycles and scooters, 70 bicycles ranging from 1903 to 1980, 30 miniature steam engines, 70 stationary engines, 60 full-size steam engines, 70 buses and coaches, 70 industrial trucks, classic plant and machinery, 150 military vehicles, 150 tractors, 300 commercials, and 50 vintage caravans, among many other fascinating attractions.

Rally chairman Martyn Slater, said: “The show will be packed full of exhibits, displays, entertainment and stalls to keep the whole family entertained. What’s more, the event helps local and national charities’ with up to 30 represented on site raising money and awareness of their respective causes.”

At the heart of the show lies the Live Action Arena, where the Steam Section will captivate spectators with nearly 70 full-size steam engines of various descriptions. For those feeling particularly adventurous, there’s even a chance to get behind the wheel of a steam engine.

A highlight not to be missed is the grand parade of miniature steam in the Alec Tanner arena. Another returning attraction for 2023 is the Tigers children’s motorcycle display team, who will showcase their skills throughout the weekend.

The Countryside Arena, dedicated to promoting animal conservation, will feature an array of entertaining and educational displays. Visitors can enjoy bird of prey flying demonstrations, ferret racing, exhibitions of rare breeds, shire horses, horse logging, reptile encounters, and even bee hive making.

Due to popular demand, the “Sheep Show” will make a comeback, providing a demonstration of shearing and sheep dancing, complete with the Sheep Show Shuffle.
