Summersgiving is a day to gather with loved ones and share a feast
You’ve heard of Christmas in July, but how about Summersgiving?
It’s held the Saturday following the summer solstice, so this year, Summersgiving falls on June 24. It’s a day to gather in gratitude with loved ones, and to share a feast.
Just as you can choose your guests, you can choose your menu. Who says you have to have turkey or cranberry sauce or anything remotely autumnal? It’s June.
Summersgiving is a chance to create a menu celebrating the flavors of summer, or to put together a feast that’s different from anything you might plan in colder months like November.
Maybe your entire feast can be dedicated to dessert.
We’ve rounded up six places from Taunton and the Taunton area where you can put together a Summersgiving feast that is sure to be remembered:
Kinfolks BBQ, Taunton

Hours: Wednesday to Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Sunday, from noon to 7 p.m.; Closed Monday and Tuesday
Feast on this: Come for the bbq, stay for the fried chicken too. If you’re looking to share a summer feast with loved ones, there are no wrong choices when it comes to ordering from Kinfolks BBQ. In addition to individual dinners and specials, you can order from the Just Meats portion of the menu, for combinations of chicken, pork, beef, and ribs, depending on what sort of feast you’re setting up. From the fried chicken menu, you could get a 12-piece order of wings, or a 12-piece bucket of chicken, for everyone to share. Pair whatever you like with classic Kinfolks sides, like their collard greens, mac and cheese, or hush puppies. Don’t forget the cornbread.

Feast on this: Your options are super customizable if you’re putting together a feast from Lucky House. There are 18 dinner combos to choose from and share, plus chef’s specials like the sesame chicken. Add on lo mein or fried rice, and take your pick of appetizers, to put together what is sure to be a crowd-pleasing feast. The chicken wings in particular are the stars of the appetizer menu, extra crispy with a satisfying crunch.

The Jockey Club, Raynham

Hours: Monday to Wednesday, from 3 to 10 p.m.; Thursday and Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Feast on this: With The Jockey Club’s to-go catering menu, you can pick up a feast to bring home for your guests. The list is quite extensive, but their catering menu includes: St. Louis hickory-smoked ribs; chicken, broccoli and ziti; roasted party wings; bang bang cauliflower; mac and cheese; chicken marsala; several types of salad; and a pastry tray. They require a minimum of 24 hours notice for to-go catering.
Fireside Classic American Grille, Middleboro

Hours: Monday to Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Feast on this: Fireside features a “family offerings” menu, which is available for takeout or curbside pickup. Get started with some family-sized soups and salads, or choose from appetizers like buttermilk chicken tenders with your choice of sauce, or the prime rib egg rolls, served with chipotle ranch dressing. Entrees feed four to six people, and include: chicken parmesan, baked stuffed shrimp, steak tips, and cedar plank salmon, among others. Unless otherwise noted, meals come with a choice of two sides: mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, french fries, sweet potato fries, mixed vegetables, broccoli, or coleslaw.
Fratelli’s Bakery & Cafe, Taunton

Feast on this: How about some dessert? No gathering or feast would be complete without a little something sweet to share with everyone at your table. Treat yourselves to some post-feast coffee, which ought to pair nicely with selections from Fratelli’s cookie menu. They’ve got biscotti, of course, with varieties like chocolate, orange cinnamon, cappuccino, and anise. Other cookies on the menu include: butter cookies, chocolate chip, M&M, oatmeal raisin, raspberry shortbread, white chocolate macadamia nut, and more. They’ve also got sugar-free cookies! They’re mini-sized, and priced by weight. Choose from raspberry pockets, chocolate chip, marble swirl, and more. Assortments can vary by season.

Feast on this: Amazing Cakes’ pastries and cupcakes are available as walk-in items, or can be made to order for special occasions. The list of options for each is quite extensive, so we’ll include just a few of each. Pastries include: Boston cream puffs, ganache-dipped brownies, magic bars, occasional/seasonal options like chocolate covered strawberries and pumpkin whoopie pies. Cupcakes include: Almond Joy, cinnamon brown sugar maple, lavender and lemon raspberry coconut, with seasonal options like eggnog, PB and Fluff, and pistachio.
