Immanuel Norwood & St. Matthews Woodlyn Lutheran churches will host “Cars, Coffee and Christ” on Saturday, June 10 in St Matthews parking lot at 160 Fairview Road, Woodlyn, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. No pre-registration is required. Car owners and fans always enjoy a cup of coffee and the opportunity to show and/or chat about their cars. “Cars, Coffee and Christ” combines these activities with Christian fellowship. This event is open to all makes, models and faiths. There will be coffee and snacks in addition to the opportunity to share conversation, experiences and faith. The St. Martin de Porres-St. John Chrysostom Joint Ministry on Racial Justice: will hold a special presentation with special guest Leroy Evans of Chester on Tuesday, June 13 at 7 p.m. at St. John Chrysostom, 617 S. Providence Road, Wallingford. The evening will address how an innocent Black man, who was wrongly convicted by a white jury and imprisoned for 42 years, still managed to keep his faith. Evans was freed in September, after serving time for a 1980 killing that he did not commit. The speaker will be joined by his wife and the attorney who secured his release. St. John Fisher Parish: will hold a Corpus Christi procession on Sunday, June 11 at 1 p.m. at St. John Fisher Church, 4225 Chichester Ave., Boothwyn. The Corpus Christi celebration will begin with 11:30 a.m. Mass, followed by the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament at approximately 12:30 p.m. At 1 p.m., the procession will begin inside the church and proceed outdoors, consisting of Father Robert McDermott carrying the Blessed Sacrament, followed by various groups of parishioners. The procession will stop at three stations outdoors, where there will be a Gospel reading, homily, and hymn, each time. At the conclusion of the procession, everyone will return to the altar in church for final Benediction. Following the event, there will be a reception in the parish center for all participants. All of this is part of the Archdiocesan Eucharistic Renewal and all parishioners, former parishioners, and friends of the parish are invited to participate in this special event. St. Gabriel Parish: will present the Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons tribute group, Lights Out, on Saturday, June 17 at St. Gabriel Hall, 233 Mohawk Ave., Norwood.

Tickets are $60 and include dinner and a show. Dinner is 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the show is at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at the rectory or by calling 610-586-1225.

St. Joseph Church: 500 Woodlawn Ave., Collingdale, is sponsoring a trip to Cape May for the blessing of the waters on Tuesday Aug. 15. The bus departs the church about 9 a.m. following the 8 a.m. Mass, arriving at Lighthouse Park for the blessing ceremony. Stay on the beach if you wish, or go to the center of town by bus to the Washington Street Park. If staying on the beach, remember a beach chair and other beach needs. You are on your own for shopping and food. The bus departs Cape May at 4 p.m., returning by 6 p.m. to the church. The cost is $60 and includes the ride, and snacks and drinks on the bus. Lima United Methodist Church: 209 Middletown Road, Middletown Twp., will present The Rockdale Boys in a free summer concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 11. The Rockdale Boys perform toe-tapping gospel and bluegrass music with strong vocal harmony and solid instrumental arrangements. All ages are invited to enjoy an afternoon of musical entertainment. Vacation Bible School: Risen Hope Church, Prospect Park, is excited to host Vacation Bible School (VBS) in our building on July 10 through 14 from 9 a.m. to noon, and July 16 at 10-11:30 a.m. It is open to children ages 5-11. The theme of this year is the armor of God, and campers will have Bible lessons, music, crafts, science lessons, drama, and sports activities based on this topic. Register at risenhopechurch.org.

St. George Catholic Church: 22 E. Cooke Ave., Glenolden, will celebrate its 100th anniversary on Saturday, June 19, with 4:30 p.m. Mass, celebrated by His Excellency Archbishop Nelson Perez. Following Mass, a reception will be held in the Parish Hall, with an opportunity to meet Perez and enjoy refreshments and light fare. A 50/50 raffle will also be held. The Bridge Course: Risen Hope Church, 1001 Washington Avenue, Prospect Park. Saturdays at 6 p.m. The Bridge Course is a great way to dig deep on fundamental questions about life and about Christianity. In a relaxed setting, we look at questions like “How Can God Allow Suffering?” “Is Jesus Really the Only Way?” and “Why Doesn’t God Just Forgive Everyone?” This is a great place to bring your questions as well! Every session starts with dinner and includes a time of no-pressure discussion. Holy Myrrh-Bearers Church: will hold its 2023 pierogie sale. Cost is $10 for potato and cheese pierogies and $12 for sauerkraut pierogies. State St., Media, The church is home to the Media Food Bank which serves 75-100 families each week and is supported by individuals, area churches, and local businesses. The food bank is open Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10-11 a.m. The church also serves the community through its clothing closet which is open Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and every Saturday from 10 a.m.-noon. The Transition Town Media Free Store is located at First United and serves as a place to donate used items and take (for free) items that can be used or repurposed. First Church offers free beginner yoga classes Wednesday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 9 a.m. There is no charge, but donations are welcome.

Turning Point Ministries: 624 E. Eighth St., Chester, is collecting food as part of its endeavor to continually build up the city. Congregants are willing to pick up any and all donated nonperishable items that can be stored in the church’s pantry until the time comes to serve. The Legion of Mary: is a Catholic organization of men and women, who work with the Blessed Mother and Holy Spirit to spread the good news of Jesus Christ, our savior, to the world in various locations and manners. Collenbrook United Church: 5290 Township Line Road, Drexel Hill, has returned to offering free community meals on the last Saturday of every month from noon to 2 p.m. The in-person meals provide home cooked meals and fellowship.
