Update to new homes plans for Oxfordshire village near A34

Update to new homes plans for Oxfordshire village near A34

The newly submitted plans confirm new details about the 90 homes in Marcham which were approved on April 1 by Vale of White Horse District Council, the planning authority.

These new plans – known as a reserved matters application – confirm the specific number of homes as well as matters relating to appearance, landscaping, scale, and layout.

Applicants Bloor Homes South West have now confirmed they will build 88 homes in the village.

The reduction from 90 homes is just one of several changes to the application following detailed consultation with the district council and Marcham Parish Council.

These discussions have shaped plans for the play space at the site to make it complementary to what already exists in the village.

They have also influenced the location of affordable units, as well as the landscaping scheme for the site and treatment of the open space around the attenuation basin area.

The new plans would see a range of dwellings including detached, semi-detached, and terraced dwellings, alongside one-bedroom maisonettes and two storey buildings.

The development will be designed around a tree-lined primary street, which will help to manage speeds and create visual interest.

Bloor Homes said: “The proposed architecture has been designed to create a visually impressive and high quality addition to Marcham, which is both distinctive and responsive to the local built character of the village.”
