USMNT star could provide ‘risk-free’ $21m transfer fix to Jürgen Klopp and Liverpool problem
With the season now over, every Premier League club has learned their fate. For Liverpool, that means a place in the Europa League after finishing fifth, while for Leeds United it’s a drop down into the Championship.
While Liverpool has struggled with form this season, it’s nothing in comparison to what Leeds has endured. Seven wins all season left the club second from bottom on just 31 points.
Despite managing a win over Jürgen Klopp’s side in late October at Anfield, the Whites were thrashed in the reverse fixture, leaving relegation all but confirmed. While the results may not have come for Jesse Marsch, Javi Gracia and Sam Allardyce, it may come as a surprise that there is a wealth of talent within the squad.

One player in particular that has earned many plaudits is New York-born defensive midfielder, Tyler Adams. The 24-year-old was a standout in a struggling side and, according to 90min, has been linked with a move to Liverpool.
The Reds already have strong competition in this area with Fabinho occupying the role and 18-year-old Stefan Bajčetić impressing when called upon before a season-ending injury. That’s not to say Adams wouldn’t be a shrewd move.
According to soccer statistics website FBref, Adams ranks in the 99th percentile for tackles made, and the 97th percentile for blocks. Fabinho on the other hand sits below the 55th percentile for both.
It can be argued that Fabinho will have less of a chance to make these tackles in a better team, but it shows that Adams can be relied on when needed. Transfermarkt also values the midfielder at $21m, meaning it won’t break the bank if the move fails to pay off.

Time will tell if Klopp sees this move as being worthwhile, but it’s relatively risk-free. It provides strength in midfield, backup options across the defense, and could be even cheaper depending on how desperate Leeds are to sell.
Liverpool.com says: It’s clear that Leeds United will need to sell players after suffering relegation from the Premier League. The club has many sellable assets and Tyler Adams is definitely one of them.
It’s obvious that Klopp needs midfield reinforcements and a player with Adams’ quality ticks a lot of boxes. Adams is a player who provides cover for the defenders, but can also play across the back when needed as well as further up the pitch. He gets stuck in, presses well and has the right attitude to play for the badge.
Liverpool does have cover in this position but Fabinho has had his critics this season with some below-par performances. Adams has youth on his side and would benefit from learning from the Brazilian and under Klopp’s tutorship.
