Where to find parades across CT

Where to find parades across CT

Cities and towns across the Nutmeg State are gearing up to host Memorial Day parades and celebrations this weekend. The holiday, which is celebrated annually on the last Monday in May, honors those who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971, when Congress passed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.

Ceremonies will take place across the country, with some of the most notable being at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, where a small American flag is placed on each grave. Additionally, it is customary for the President or Vice President to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.

In Connecticut, individual towns are holding honorary celebrations to commemorate the holiday. Here’s where to find Memorial Day parades across Connecticut.
