Why are Man United and Liverpool not on TV this weekend? Crucial clashes in Champions League battle are unavailable to watch

The race for Champions League qualification is going to go down to the wire and this weekend’s fixtures will be crucial in deciding the top four.

Man United and Liverpool are separated by one point heading into the final week of the campaign, with the Red Devils having a game in hand.

Man United and Liverpool are fighting for a top four spot

United face a trip to Bournemouth in search of three points while the Reds host Aston Villa looking to continue their superb winning form.

The importance of these fixtures are paramount but fans won’t be able to watch them as the games are not going to be shown on TV in the UK.

Why are Man United and Liverpool not on TV?

Man United and Liverpool’s games this weekend will not be on TV after they were not chosen for broadcast.

They will instead be played at 3pm on Saturday afternoon, which means they fall under the long-standing 3pm blackout rule in the UK.

talkSPORT 2 will have live coverage of Man United vs Bournemouth

But don’t worry too much, as talkSPORT 2 has you covered with EXCLUSIVE live commentary of Bournemouth vs Man United and all the latest news from Merseyside.

TV coverage was preferred for the teams involved in the Premier League title race, with Arsenal and Manchester City’s fixtures being shown live.

Of course in the run-in of the campaign, the title race is clearly the focus but fans have been left disappointed at not being able to watch the battle for the Champions League.

If Man United win against Bournemouth and Liverpool lose to Aston Villa, then the Red Devils will secure themselves a top four finish.

Liverpool will be hoping Man United slip up on Saturday

If Liverpool win at Anfield and Man United win at Bournemouth, it would mean Erik ten Hag’s side can secure a Champions League place by beating Chelsea in their game in hand.

However, things will get interesting if Man United lose to Bournemouth and Liverpool beat Aston Villa on Saturday.

It would move the Reds into the top four and two points clear of their rivals, piling on the pressure for their penultimate fixture at Old Trafford on Thursday.

So there is plenty of drama possible between these two sides, but fans will unfortunately not be able to watch any of the action unfold.
