Winnacunnet lacrosse teams, Exeter baseball wins
HAMPTON – Caleb White and Antonio Franciosa both had three goals and one assist as the fifth-seeded Winnacunnet High School boys lacrosse team beat No. 12 Goffstown on Thursday in a Division II first-round win.
Winnacunnet will visit No. 4 Windham on Saturday.
“Happy with our effort today,” Winnacunnet head coach Patrick Snow said. “We knew Goffstown would make us earn it and felt like we stuck to the game plan and wore them down. Looking forward to a quarterfinal rematch with Windham on Saturday. It will take our best effort to continue on.”
Winnacunnet beat Windham in the regular season, 7-3.
Tim Kollmorgen had one goal and three assists for the Warriors, while Tanyon Ziolkowski, Braden Nowak, Ryan Ciolfi, and Noah Garofalo all had one goal.
Winnacunnet goalie Noah Andronaco had 10 saves. Defensively, Tony Piotrowski, Jake Magri, Laird Sullivan, and Junior Paschal shined.

DIVISION II

DOVER – Anthony DiMartino had six goals and one assist as the sixth-seeded Saints rolled in this first-round game.
St. Thomas Aquinas will visit No. 3 Timberlane on Saturday in a quarterfinal game.
“The squad had a great week of practice,” St. Thomas head coach Scott Singer said. “They were focused and brought a lot of energy. They came out flying scoring seven goals in the first and kept the pressure on all the way through.”
Jackson Estes and Finley Detolla both had four goals in the win, while Aidan Morrison had three, Trent Salyards had two, and Owen Birch one. Owen Gray added two assists, while John Reeve and Royal Edgerly had one.

HAMPTON – Senior Sam Guilmette had two goals and four assists for Oyster River in this first-round win.
The Bobcats will visit No. 2 Derryfield on Saturday.
Freshman Jadyn Smart added three goals for Oyster River, while Alex Moody, Talon Beyer, Cole Levesque, Curtis Leitz and Tyler Callander all had one goal.
Oyster River goalie Finn Mason had 11 saves.
GIRLS LACROSSE
DIVISION I
No. 6 Bishop Guertin 18
No. 3 Dover 9
DOVER – Julia Rowley had three goals and three assists, but Dover fell in this quarterfinal round game.
“Tough game,” Dover head coach Dana Gray. “Even for the first 10 minutes, then BG went up two goals and then more, and it was hard to fight back.”
Payton Denning had two goals for the Green Wave, while Lily Hunt, Rylen Gray, Zayda Clairmont and Danielle Young all had one.
“Great season and very proud of the way the team worked together as a collective unit,” coach Gray said.
DIVISION II
No. 4 Winnacunnet 13
No. 5 Timberlane 9
HAMPTON – Maia Delano scored five goals, and Abby Wilber and Shea Graham both scored three for Winnacunnet in this quarterfinal round win.
“We had a slow start,” Winnacunnet head coach Colleen Farias said. “Thankfully came back with six unanswered goals.
Winnacunnet will visit top-seeded Hanover on Saturday in a semifinal.
Skyla Mace added two goals for the Warriors.
“The heat was a big factor today and we tried to really slow it down once we had the lead,” Farias said. “Everyone committed and we were able to run the clock that last 7-plus minutes for the win.”

WINDHAM – Sophie Royal and Grace Royal each scored two goals, and Mia Weglarz had one for Oyster River in this Division II quarterfinal loss.
Oyster River goalie Eliza Farwell had 11 saves.
“Our girls never gave up until the last whistle,” Oyster River head coach Kirstin Fleming said. “We saw some of our best defense and patient, controlled offense. Some things didn’t go our way and that was out of our control but I’m proud of them for finishing strong. We capped off another great season and making it to quarterfinals was one of our goals, so I am very happy with that.”
DIVISION III

No. 7 Pelham 9
DOVER – Charlotte De Tolla and Megan Leahy both scored six goals as the second-seeded Saints to this Division III quarterfinal win.
“We could not be more proud of this group of girls and how well they have come together as the Season has progressed,” STA head coach Jackson Carroll said. “We could give an example of a noteworthy moment from any single player tonight, from a save in net or a turnover or a well-positioned shot on goal. It all made for a great game to be standing on the sideline supporting this group of girls.”
St. Thomas Aquinas will now face No. 3 Gilford on Saturday at Bank of New Hampshire Stadium in Laconia. Gilford advanced with a 17-4 win over Interlakes-Moultonborough.
Cat Vetter added three goals for the Saints, while Reece Anderson and Lizzy Holden both had one.
St. Thomas Aquinas goalie Anna Stailey had four saves. Defensively, Julianna Grella, Grace Talbot, and Ava Lyder all starred.
BASEBALL
DIVISION I
No. 2 Exeter 7
No. 15 Trinity 5
EXETER – Sophomore Cam Piwnicki entered the top of the seventh with the bases loaded and nobody out and the Blue Hawks protecting a three-run lead.
The right-hander allowed an RBI single to Sean Kuhloff as Trinity cut the Exeter lead to two, 7-5. However, Piwnicki struck out the next two batters and then sophomore shortstop Hayden Schimoler fielded a ground ball and stepped on second for the final out of the game.
Exeter (16-3) will host No. 7 Concord (15-5) on Saturday. Concord advanced with an 8-5 win over No. 10 Bishop Guertin.
“It’s always a good matchup with Concord,” Exeter head coach Bruce Joyce said. “We’ve had some great games with them; looking forward to it. It’s tournament time, we’ll see their best. They have a couple of guys in their lineup that can really give you trouble. Hopefully, we can get that one and advance to the semis.”
Exeter jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second on two errors, an RBI single from Roger Davis and Mike Caron’s sacrifice fly.
Cam Keaveney had two of Exeter’s five hits, while Schimoler, Finn Adams and Davis all had one.
Exeter starter George Young scattered seven hits over six innings, allowing one earned run and striking out four.
DIVISION III
No. 5 Prospect Mountain 9
No. 12 Somersworth 3
ALTON – Simon Grandmaison had two hits, and Lukas Kelly, Andrew Cushing and Carter Morgan all had one for Somersworth in this Division III first-round game.
Somersworth starter Zeph Yoder struck out eight and allowed four earned runs over six innings.
“Tough game today,” Somersworth head coach Brian Bussiere said. “We got beat, credit to Prospect. We just weren’t good today and, in the playoffs, you need to execute and be near flawless. We just weren’t able to do that today. Defensively we made a few too many uncharacteristic physical and mental mistakes that cost us, and credit to Prospect they took full advantage of it.”
