Analysis

By Wolves correspondent Steve Madeley

Tough start, tough finish, but some period in the middle when Wolves will fancy their chances of collecting points.

Old Trafford away in the opening game is one of the toughest trips of the season but the rest of August and September looks tricky, too, with three more games on the road —  Wolves’ away record last season was dreadful —  and three challenging home games.

The Molineux fixtures in April and May look more inviting but there are more tough away games at the end of the campaign.

And Wolves will have to wait for a taste of fierce rivalry —  until October to face Aston Villa and December to lock horns again with Nottingham Forest.

When will the TV fixtures be confirmed?

Last summer, Sky Sports and BT Sport revealed their televised picks for the opening weekend when the fixtures were released.

They then confirmed in mid-July their TV picks up until the middle of September.

As a minimum, the Premier League aims to alert supporters of changes based on TV scheduling at least six weeks before the match is due to take place.

This year, there will be one significant change with BT Sport being rebranded as TNT Sports from July. As The Athletic reported in detail here, it has been stressed that the transition will be seamless and the only noticeable change will be in name.

US fans were able to watch or stream all 380 Premier League games in 2022-23 and will be able to do so again, with NBC’s current deal — including streaming service Peacock — running until 2028.

Key dates — 2023-24 Premier League season

The new Premier League season starts on the weekend of August 11-14, 2023.

The traditional Community Shield curtain-raiser will be between Manchester City and Arsenal, with confirmation of the fixture details still to be confirmed by the Football Association. The game is usually between the Premier League and FA Cup winners, but with City claiming both, the second final spot goes to the Premier League runners-up.

The season will conclude on Sunday, May 19, 2024, with all 10 final-day games kicking off at the same time.

A mid-season break will take place between January 13-20 and the Premier League has promised that no two rounds across Christmas and New Year will take place within 48 hours of each other.

The summer transfer window opened on June 14 and runs until 11pm on September 1.
