According to the Town of Deep River website, an auction will be held on Wednesday, July 5, at the Deep River Highway Department, “at 8 a.m., of abandoned personal property of evicted residential tenant(s) Bonnie Chiaradio and Kerri Chiaradio; which was stored by the Town of Deep River pursuant to section 47a-42a (c) of the Connecticut General Statutes. All items will become the possession of the highest bidder. Auction will be by lot only. Property is to be sold “as is.” The property will be sold without warranty or representation of any kind as to its condition or title.   2. Nominations are being accepted by the Rockfall Foundation for its 2023 Environmental Champion Awards now through July 27. The awards are to recognize groups, individuals, organizations, and businesses for environmental efforts that contribute to the quality of life in the Lower Connecticut River Valley. According to hk-now.com, “Areas recognized include preservation, conservation, ecosystem restoration, and environmental and sustainability education. The Tom O’Dell Distinguished Service Award will be presented for outstanding lifetime accomplishments. Awardees will be recognized at The Rockfall Foundation’s Annual Meeting, Grants and Awards celebration on Oct. 4. (hk-now.com)
  3. The Chester Rotary Club’s 45th 4 on the 4th is just around the corner! Runners will be lining up on Tuesday, July 4 at 9 a.m. at 78 Main St., Chester. They’ll hit the pavement for the four-mile, USATF- sanctioned, professionally chip-timed race through the charming village of Chester. For those registering now through June 28, the cost is $25, the price increases to $30 for registration received June 29 through 8 a.m. on July 4. Packet pick-up will be Saturday, July 1, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Sound Runner, now Marathon Sports, in Old Saybrook and between noon and 3 p.m. at St Joseph’s Parish in Chester.
