Barca interest

Villa have been warned that they face losing out on former Tottenham player Giovani Lo Celso to Spanish giants Barcelona.

The Argentine playmaker has spent the last 18 months on loan at La Liga side Villarreal after struggling to cement a place in the Spurs first-team. The North London club spent £42m on the 27-year-old when he made the switch from Real Betis in 2020.

Lo Celso could leave Tottenham permanently during the summer transfer window and BirminghamLive understands that Lo Celso is amongst the list of targets that manager Unai Emery is keen to add to his ranks.

But reports in Mundo Deportivo, a Catalan-based news organisation, claim that manager Xavi ‘really likes’ Lo Celso as he fits the profile of player that he is looking for in his side.

Van Domselaar joins as Villa’s first signing of the summer transfer window, replacing the outgoing Hannah Hampton, who will leave following the expiry of her respective contract.

The Dutch international made her senior debut at club level in 2017 and then at international level later in February 2022. She was part of the Netherlands’ EURO squad last summer and came on as a substitute in their opening group game against Sweden for the injured Sari van Veenendaal.
