Brilliant photos of Greater Manchester dads through the decades for Father’s Day

Father’s Day is the one day of the year when we get celebrate dads and remind them just how special they are.

If you’re lucky enough to still have your dad around, it’s a time to appreciate everything they have done, and still do, for us.

A great dad not only raises children, they are a role model who shows us how we might live our lives.

And as we get older, dads can be a strong shoulder to cry on, a good person to seek advice from, or even just the person to go to for a great hug.

So, today is a day to say thanks to all the brilliant, funny and hard-working dads for seeing us through the toughest times.

To celebrate, we’ve delved into the archives for images of Greater Manchester dads and their children down the decades.

We haven’t been super strict with the photos, as in many ways, a good ‘dad’ can also be a man who is a great father-figure in our lives.

And, if today you are one of the many who misses an incredible dad, we know Father’s Day can be tough.

Hopefully the photos remind you of the years of love and support and the lessons they passed on.
