Brsk Reveals UK Full Fibre Rollout Plan for 800,000 Premises

Broadband ISP and network builder Brsk has confirmed that their gigabit speed Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) network has doubled in size over the last 5 months to 200,000 UK premises. But they’ve today also revealed the next locations that will benefit as they deploy to the next 800,000 premises.

The operator, which last year secured a huge funding boost of “up to£178 million (here) and tends to focus on parts of Greater Manchester, Lancashire, West Yorkshire and the West Midlands in England, holds a long-term aim of passing 1 million homes by 2026. Some of the locations where they’re currently deploying include Cottingley, Keighley and Bingley, Clayton, Allerton & Sandy Lane, Bradford, Queensbury, Thornton, Accrington and many more.

NOTE: Brsk is supported by funding from Advencap and the Ares Management Corp.

At the last update in March 2023, we reported that Brsk were currently building at a rate of up to 20,000 premises per month and rising. The latest update suggests that they’ve been able to maintain or even better that pace and are planning to increase their build capacity over the coming months. But their ability to reach the 1 million premises target will still depend upon whether they can raise more funding in the future.

The operator is now focusing on the locations they’ll be targeting for the next 800,000 premises of their build (list below), which will expand their existing network to many of the adjacent and surrounding areas where they have been growing their footprint in the north of the UK. As before, they’ll be going up against a number of gigabit-capable rivals in many of these areas.

Ian Kock, Brsk co-founder and COO, said:

“Reaching the 200,000 homes passed within a short period is a fantastic achievement for us. We learned many lessons about scaling a FTTP fibre rollout in another market, and this experience has been invaluable for a quick ramp up of our build. A combination of importing fibre skills, working with quality partners and getting to scale quickly has meant that we are one of the most efficient network builders in the UK.”

Standard prices typically start from £25 per month for an unlimited 100Mbps symmetric speed package on a 24-month term (inc. a free installation and router), which rises to £49 for their top 900Mbps package (it’s normally £45, but the £49 plan includes their Mesh WiFi solution). In addition, there’s also a “guarantee” of “no price rises” during that term and most plans are currently running price discounts that last for the first 3-9 months.
