Carlisle kids’ football team delighted over local kit sponsorship

The Northbank under-9’s football team is now proudly sporting their new attire, thanks to a partnership with Green Meadows Country Park, situated in Blackford, Carlisle.

Under the agreement, Green Meadows Country Park generously provided the team with customized tops, jackets, and training equipment bearing the company’s branding, all without any cost to the team.

This sponsorship deal has brought immense joy and appreciation to the team and their manager, Stephen McDermott.

Stephen expressed his gratitude, highlighting the significance of the sponsorship for the team.

He shared that the deal was facilitated through a reciprocal gesture, as McDermott had assisted the holiday park with the installation of their gas pipes in his capacity as an employee of a gas company.

Recalling the site manager’s response, McDermott said: “I thought “I scratch your back, you scratch mine.””

the site manager told Mr McDermott to send an invoice for any necessary supplies.

The sponsorship has had a considerable impact on the team, as Stephen acknowledged the financial challenges faced by youth football organizations.

He remarked: “It makes a huge difference; you don’t get a lot of money in kids’ football.”

It is hoped that the support from Green Meadows Country Park will empower the team as they prepare to compete in the upcoming season of the Carlisle Glass Longhorn Youth Football League, scheduled to commence in September 2023.

To commemorate the sponsorship agreement, an enjoyable morning was arranged for the team, parents, and coaches at Green Meadows Country Park on June 10.

A spokesperson for the park said: “The team had a kickabout on the green, showed off their skills and their new kit, then finished with a plodge in the lake getting soaked.
