Coventry Road live as A45 shut ‘for hours’ amid ‘serious’ collision

A busy city road has been closed due to a ‘serious’ collision. Coventry Road in South Yardley is expected to remain shut for several hours.

The crash happened this evening (Thursday, June 8), with the road being blocked off in both directions from around 8pm. The incident happened near the junctions with Kings Road.

It is not currently clear how many vehicles were involved in the collision, or if people have been hurt. West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have been contacted for further details.

A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “Coventry Road in South Yardley, near the junction with Kings Road, is currently closed in both directions following a serious collision. Officers are at the scene and the road is expected to remain shut for a number of hours.”

Collision happened at around 8pm

Inrix, the traffic monitoring site, said the road is shut between Heybarnes Circus and Holder Road.

The road was closed at around 8pm this evening (Thursday, June 8).

Road to remain shut for several hours

Coventry Road is currently closed in both directions following what police have described as a “serious collision”.

The road is expected to remain shut for several hours, motorists have been warned.
