Liverpool are on the cusp of signing Alexis Mac Allister with the player now having just one hurdle left to clear before finalising his switch to Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp is keen to act fast to land his targets this summer after a disappointing 2022/23 campaign. While their late-season rally was impressive, they left themselves with too big a mountain to climb, ultimately finishing fifth.

And having also crashed out of all three cup competitions early, Mohamed Salah was left to reflect on the club’s crushing failures.

Reasons behind Liverpool’s fall from grace could be placed on a mutitude of factors. Indeed, theories about Klopp’s seven-year cycle running its course, together with too many changes to their attack, are often cited.

However, the most common consensus appears to surround their midfield failings. And with Arthur Melo joining James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita in leaving, Klopp has four holes to fill.

Now it seems the ambious Liverpool manager is targeting three new signings to reinvigorate their engine room.

And it seems that signing No 1 in Mac Allister is now as good as over the line.

Per reports on Wednesday, Mac Allister has now agreed personal terms with Liverpool. That will see him treble his current salary at Brighton to £150,000 a week.

With a clause in Mac Allister’s contract facilitating his exit, Brighton are not in a position to block the switch.

And now, according to Thursday’s edition of Sport, Liverpool have reached a full agreement to sign the 24-year-old star.

They will pay Brighton £68.7m for the star, with the breakdown of the payments now also agreed.

Liverpool want Khephren Thuram to join Mac Allister

And they report his move to Anfield will be finalised in the next couple of weeks once the player has returned from a holiday. Providing he passes a medical without any hitches, Mac Allister will reportedly sign a five-year deal at Anfield to June 2028.

Having contributed to 15 goals this season (12 goals and three assists), Mac Allister will offer Liverpool’s midfield a threat going forward they have arguably lacked since the days of Philippe Coutinho.

Now reports in France claim Klopp wants to follow up on Mac Allister’s arrival with a second midfield signing.

According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have taken steps to secure a deal for Khephren Thuram.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding season in Ligue 1 with some stellar displays in midfield. That form has seen him earn a first cap for France, with his debut coming in March.

Watched regularly by Liverpool scouts, the French newspaper now claims Liverpool are readying an approach.

And with talks reportedly going on for some time, Thuram and his agent are seemingly keen on the move to Anfield.

Nice, for their part, are unwilling to stand in Thuram’s way if a €40m (£34.5m) offer arrives. The midfielder has two years left on his current arrangement and Nice know the peak time to sell is this summer.

Seen as a long-term replacement for Fabinho, Thuram has excelled in the No 6 role this season. Scoring two and weighing in with eight assists, Thuram showed another side to his game in 2022/23.

Now Klopp is seemingly ready to accelerate his push for his signature with the son of World Cup winner Lilian also willing to make the move.
