Leeds United could be expected to lose Luis Sinisterra this summer, with the Colombian winger said to be in line for a “straightforward” departure.

With relegation, it shouldn’t come as a shock to see a host of the current Leeds squad edging closer and closer to the exit door by the week.

A raft of first-teamers are sure to leave as they don’t see themselves playing in the Championship next term, which for some is fair enough after what they’ve shown at Elland Road.

Will Luis Sinisterra leave?

A player who has seen speculation not really centre around his name is Colombian international Luis Sinisterra.

The winger joined for £21million after a starring role at Feyenoord in their run to the Europa Conference League final, but he was unable to build on that in the Premier League as he picked up constant injury setbacks.

Still, he notched seven goals in the season as the club’s second-top scorer behind Rodrigo.

Now, LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross has suggested that the winger is part of the group of senior players at Leeds that shouldn’t have too many difficulties in leaving:

“The likes of Illan Meslier, Junior Firpo, Robin Koch, Marc Roca, Rodrigo and Luis Sinisterra are expected to find straightforward routes out of the club this summer.”

Such an assessment of Sinisterra and his teammates does come with the bonus that it leaves Leeds with more of a chance of retaining Willy Gnonto for their promotion charge.

I would be surprised if there is a queue of teams looking at Sinisterra, given his injury-plagued season and how much we’ll command.

He’s one that would probably push to leave if there’s a better offer on the table, but we’re not in a position where we need to let him go.

His wages were slashed after relegation, and he’s on a long-term deal – the ball is in our court with this one.

What is certain is that if he stays, and stays fit, the Championship is not ready.
