Manchester United expresses anger at Chelsea for leaking out Mason Mount offer and contract details: Reports

Manchester United are furious with Chelsea over the way they have handled the transfer negotiations for Mason Mount. They have reportedly leaked the details of the deal. The club’s sporting director John Murthough has not been appreciative of the London-based club’s strategy.

Chelsea is said to have informed the club’s correspondents in London about all the bids. The club has rejected three offers from United to buy the 24-year-old. They are unhappy about the situation and want to resolve it as soon as possible.

Manchester United‘s first offer for Mount was £40 million including add-ons. Then they increased the price to £50m, before putting in the last bid of £55m. All of them have been rejected. Experts believe that Chelsea’s financial situation is getting strengthened after the eminent of the likes of Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, Hakim Ziyech, and other high earners to Saudi-based franchises. This means Todd Boehly’s management has been able to balance the books to avoid FFP regulations. In this scenario, the Blues can risk maximizing their gains on Mount this year or see him go for free.

Chelsea are holding out for a £65 million overall fee. The Manchester-based side feel that they are overpricing the player who only has one year left in his contract. Sources say that United are not boasting huge finances this transfer window due to the impending takeover. Thus, it looks like they might walk away from this deal if their current bid is not reconsidered.

If the Mason Mount deal is not completed, the club will walk away and look for alternatives. At this moment, they will not be paying the price Chelsea want for the player, as per reports.

The main alternative being looked at is Brighton and Hove Albion’s Moises Caceido. The player almost joined the club in January 2021 before joining Brighton for £10 million. But the club walked out on the deal at the last minute. As is customary with United, they are now ready to pay a much inflated £60 million for the player. Interestingly, Chelsea is also in talks with the Ecuadorian.

Although the player’s preference right now remains Chelsea, it could soon change to United. The player has admitted a lot of times that he is in fact a United fan. He was very disappointed when the deal fell through last time. So he might be excited to hear about the new change of events.
